Long standing supporter of DSL, Maggie Ollerenshaw, returned for our Industry Talks programme this month offering sage advice to our graduating year.
Maggie has a long and varied career working in TV, and theatre in the UK and US. She is well known for comedic roles in the much loved series Open All Hours and Last of the Summer Wine.
Her stage work includes Shakespearean roles for Barrie Rutter at Northern Broadsides in The Merry Wives of Windsor and King John, and during her time in New York she performed in American classics, A Streetcar Named Desire and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf.
Maggie shared entertaining anecdotes from her life in the industry, reassuring advice on working with agents, networking, the importance of pacing yourself when on set, dealing with rejection and ways to remain productive when between industry jobs.
Altogether, a highly engaging glance into the busy working life of a great comic actress.
