Course overview:
Folks might ask (or at the very least wonder) “What will I gain from working with Kirk…what might I come away with that’s different?”
I thrive on helping actors to stop acting. This begins to be replaced by listening to who we’re with, and in turn trusting our instincts and impulses. Always thinking things through to make sure we’re “right” or “safe” is restricting, counterproductive and exhausting. Thinking is overrated. Acting is Doing.
Helping Actors to embrace the understanding that we are ALL already whole is the essence of the work for me. When we turn the mind off and listen, we become grounded, secure and empowered. We become receptive to what is in front of us and in turn to what our text is looking “to do with us” rather than “what we should do with it." Not to say we become passive and just let it all magically happen. We make simple, clear and specific “need based choices.” We get out of our own way. We connect and pop...ultimately feeling pretty damn good about our work. I am thrilled with having been asked to bring the work I've practiced some 30 years now as an actor and share as a teacher and coach to Drama Studio London on November 2nd and 3rd.
The progression is really quite simple: Listen Fully…Let Go Completely…Respond Truthfully
We practice this first without text…then with text. There is no play to read and prepare for this session. Text will be issued at the start of our first day.
This work helps strengthen the process of building a character and audition technique immeasurably.
As an added bonus we will be shooting work created at end of Sunday’s session so all will come away (within 7-10 days of the workshop's end) with a filmed piece of work.
Dress comfortably, bring lunch, water, notebook and a pen and your big bad beautiful self…along with an open mind. It’s gonna be a blast!
Here’s to a great weekend workshop at Drama Studio London doing what we all love: creating Art and building technique that provokes, ask questions and tells the truth while entertaining.
Looking forward to you joining us!!!
With Care and Respect,
Kirk Baltz

Kirk Baltz continues acting in film, theatre and television and has worked with such noted film directors as Chantal Akerman, Warren Beatty, Oliver Stone, John Woo, Kevin Costner, Quentin Tarantino, Taylor Hackford and Deniz Gamez Erguven to name a few.

While teaching on going acting classes in Los Angeles and acting workshops in other major cities across the U.S. and abroad, Kirk also offers private coaching in LA as well as online sessions via Skype Internationally. Kirk also does on set coaching for TV and film. Participants gain a better understanding of the differences between acting on stage, on camera and in a casting office.

His Actor’s Intensive workshops have helped a great many actors, writers and directors to build strong acting technique, and tell compelling stories with clarity and conviction. His acting classes empower artists to fully be who they are while realizing their absolute potential.
All work is Meisner and Method based…using repetition, movement, sensory work, improvisation, writing, script analysis and varying exercises.
